Topic

Writing for the Web
It's not enough to get people to visit your website — you’ve got to get them to stay. One major strategy to engage site visitors is to provide them with the information they are looking for in a way that is easy for them to use and understand.

Participants who attend this workshop will learn how people ‘read’ on the Web. We’ll also explore the art of writing for the web, while discussing strategies for content development. The workshop will also emphasize new practices you can put to use right away.

Our featured guest speaker, Farra Trompeter, is Vice President of Client Relationships and Strategy at Big Duck. Big Duck combines expert strategy with award-winning creative to help nonprofit organizations transform they way they communicate. Farra helps nonprofits use the Internet (email, websites, social media, etc.) to increase an organization's visibility and connect with donors and activists. Before Big Duck, Farra honed her skills at Donordigital and Douglas Gould & Co., developing direct response fundraising, advocacy and marketing strategies and producing user-driven websites. She has worked closely with American Lung Association, US Fund for UNICEF, Women’s Sports Foundation, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, United Way of New York City, and other nonprofits. Farra holds an M.S. degree in nonprofit management from The New School and currently serves on the board of the New York City Anti-Violence Project.
