GVCCC Supports HOST Act to Unlock Economic Opportunities During 2026 World Cup

The Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce supports the proposed HOST (Hospitality and Open Space Transformation) Act, which would enable New York municipalities to create designated “Entertainment Zones” during major international events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The legislation would allow for expanded outdoor hospitality, including permitted alcohol service at special events, helping local businesses meet increased tourism demand. With the World Cup expected to draw millions of visitors and generate significant economic activity, the HOST Act provides a framework for activating public spaces while maintaining safety and community oversight—ensuring New York’s small businesses and neighborhoods can fully benefit from this global event.

We applaud NYS Assembly Member Tony Simone and the NYC Hospitality Alliance for their leadership in advancing this important initiative and advocating for policies that support the hospitality industry and local economic growth
