The Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce welcomes Mayor Mamdani's announcement of the OPEN for Small Business initiative, a comprehensive package of more than 50 regulatory reforms aimed at cutting red tape and making it easier for New York City's small businesses to open, operate, and grow. The Chamber has long advocated for many of these common-sense reforms, and we are encouraged to see City Hall taking meaningful steps to address the regulatory burdens facing neighborhood businesses.

The initiative includes many priorities the GVCCC has consistently championed, including streamlining processes, reducing duplicative permits and unnecessary fines, and creating a dedicated business navigator to help entrepreneurs work through City processes. These reforms recognize that small businesses deserve a government that serves as a partner—not an obstacle—and will help save business owners valuable time and money while strengthening our neighborhood commercial corridors. We look forward to working with the Mamdani Administration to support the successful implementation of these reforms and to continue advancing policies that make New York City a better place to do business.
